Guo Benmin is a senior director, planner, and producer of documentary, as well as a senior reporter. He was a member of the Editorial Board of CCTV, Vice Chairman of the Documentary Academic Committee of the China Television Artists Association, and member of the Council of China Film Association. He is the director and general director of many documentary films, including, The Surging Yellow River, Monument, Years Are Here, Land: the Lifeline and so on. He has participated in the planning and production of the creation of hundreds of documentary films, including Mao Zedong: A Charismatic Leader, Hello, Xiaoping, Premier Zhou Enlai, Eternal Flame, and The 13 Years of the CPC Central Committee in Yan'an. He is also the editor-in-chief of publications such as Passionate Creation and Calm Consideration  and Research on Documentary Creation in the New Era.
