Yang Qing is a guqin player, music educator, vice chairman of the Guqin Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, chairman of the Beijing Guqin Academic Committee, and chairman of the Beijing Guqin Culture Research Institute. He also serves as the tutor and visiting professor at many institutes, including Longren Guqin Cultural Research Institute of Wuhan University, Academy of Guoxue of Xiamen University, and the School of Chinese Language and Literature of Minnan Normal University. Besides, he is vice chairman of the Confucian Music Education and Research Committee of Chinese Confucian Academy, inheritor of the art of guqin as intangible cultural heritage of Beijing, and guest speaker of the Guqin lecture series for Baijia Jiangtan, a TV show produced by CCTV. He has published textbooks Guqin: A Self-Study Course, Guqin Lessons for Children, Preparing for Guqin Examination: Classic Guqin Pieces (Demonstration), and Learning Guqin from Scratch, books Guqin Meets Dream of Red Mansions, Guqin Meets the Classic of Poetry, Guqin Meets Peony Pavilion, Guqin Meets Ancient Music, 200 Questions about Guqin, Guqin: Thirty Classical Songs, Guqin: Classical Songs II, and Ruan: Classical Songs, and CDs Dream of Red Mansions, Yi Qu Qin Ge, Guqin Meets the Classic of Poetry, Guqin & Songs, Plum Blossoms, Yang Qing & Guqin, and Rain in the Mountains. He has organized many strings music events, including Guqin Meets Dream of Red Mansions, Guqin Meets the Classic of Poetry, Guqin Meets Peony Pavilion, and Guqin Meets Mei Lanfang.
